Remember Mixtape Parties?

Do people still get together to discuss DJ Mixes these days? Or has the music become so commonplace and disposable that nobody really cares anymore?

I remember back when I was coming up in the scene we’d often get together with a new mix tape and listen to it and analyse the tracks, the journey, the flow and whatever else jumped out. We’d takes notes, try to find out what the songs were (this was before everything was online, before Shazam and Google), figure out what techniques were used, and compare the mixes with others in the same genre and past mixes by the same DJ.

But I haven’t done that in years. Do the mixes just not inspire like they used to? Or is it because people don’t get together to have an album listening party like they used to?
