Nils Petter Molvaer – Bathroom

The jazz station here in Denver has a decent mix of sounds and styles, but the daytime programming seems to be targeted more toward the “smooth jazz” folks and it’s something I’m not a huge fan of.

But from the time the sun sets to the time the sun rises again the music changes; it gets darker, more experimental. And, well, more fun.

I’ve heard a lot of great stuff on the station over the years, and here’s the latest. I’m not quite sure what to say about this song, but the music speaks for itself. The broody, spaced-out melody. The thick bassline. The horns. The broken beats. This thing is good listening, and it would go great in a chilled DJ mix.

What do you think? Are you into this type of stuff? Let me know in the comments below.
